  • SCHOOL DINNERS

    Fri 05 Feb 2016

As you are probably aware, each morning children are asked to choose their lunch for that day.   This includes choosing which vegetables they would prefer.

From Monday February 8th we are going to trial a different system.  Each morning the children will still choose the main part of their lunch meal, but will not need to specify which vegetables at that time, instead they will choose these at the service point.

We will be monitoring this over the next few weeks.  If you have any concerns please do not hesitate to let us know.

  • Read On Get On Reading Journey

    Wed 09 Dec 2015 Mrs L. Whitgreave

    Dear Children and Parents,

In January, we will be launching an exciting reading project in school.

We are going to run a reading journey, all term, based upon the European Cup Football theme.

    Preparation

The first week back in January, we shall have a creative curriculum week. Each year group will learn about a European country, making a map, a flag, factsheets, artwork and experiencing food from their country. Parents will be invited into an assembly on Friday 8th January to share the work done during the week. The work will then be displayed on the boards around the hall.

    The Journey

Each child, parent, grandparent and older or younger sibling will have a football with their name on it. When they have read a number of pages or books, their football will progress round each display board to finish in France.

Mid-way through the project, we will celebrate World Book Day, to add to the fun!

    The Grand Final

A presentation ceremony will round off the whole journey just before Easter. Everybody who takes part will receive a certificate and those who make it to France will receive a, "gold," medal.

This will be an enriching experience for all the children. I'm sure that our reporters from, "Our Lady's Star," will be on hand to write a mid-term report as well as a report about the Grand Final!

If you are willing to be DBS checked and have some spare time, I would love to hear from you because you could come into school to help to run the project.

More details will follow in the new year. It promises to develop reading across the school, raise standards and be fun!

    Yours sincerely,

    Mrs L. Whitgreave
