Religious Education

We are supporting and helping our pupils to live up to the mission to love God with all their mind 'Know thee more clearly'.

Religious Education at Our Lady's and St Oswald's is a core subject and the teaching of the subject is centred around the Diocesan scheme 'The Way, the truth and the Life'. Children from Reception through to Year 6 have 2 lessons of Religious Education each week. Children learn about Jesus's teachings, Bible stories and the Sacraments through group work, whole class teaching, drama, music and media. The children are expected to transfer their Literacy skills into their RE work and are encouraged to present their written work carefully and to take pride in their work.

Religious Education in a Catholic school is not inspected by Ofsted. We are inspected by the Diocese. Our last inspection was 'Outstanding' in June 2017.

We are currently awaiting the National Framework for the inspection of Catholic Schools which is due during the acadmic year 2023-2024.
