  • YEAR 4 AT GREAT ESCAPE

Thu 25 May 2017 Jan Edmondson

26/6/17:  The children had a good night after a very busy day.  Yesterday they did a number of team-building exercises plus swimming and high ropes work.    The weather is ideal for today's program which includes canoeing and hiking.

The bus will return to school for 3.15pm.

25/6/17:  The coach has arrived and the children are settling into their new surroundings.   No doubt, they will be starting activities very shortly. We hope to have another update before the end of the day.

  • CROCUS WALK PRESENTATION

Mon 15 May 2017 Jan Edmondson

Ian Haigh, President of Oswestry Rotary Club and David Gordon, who organised this year's Crocus Walk, visited school assembly today to receive the £304.50 raised by our children and their families in aid of the Rotary Club's drive to end polio.

Every £1 we raised will be matched by £2 from the Bill Gates Foundation, so our fundraising will generate over £900 and once Gift Aid is applied it will be even more.   Mr Haigh explained to the children that this means at least 9,000 more children can receive the vaccine.

In 1985 when Rotary joined the battle to eradicate polio, there were 39,361 cases worldwide, as a result of the targeted campaign last year only 36 cases were reported and to date this year the number is 5.  However to ensure it is truly eradicated the vaccination program must continue.

Mr Haigh and Mr Gordon presented school with a Certificate and thanked the children and their families for their terrific support.

  • GLAN LLYN WATCH

Mon 08 May 2017 Jan Edmondson

    10/05/17

The children are all ready for their last day at Glan Llyn.  Today they will be bowling and on the climbing wall.   The sun is out, the sky is blue, the lake is gorgeous and no-one wants to leave!!   But the bus should back on time for a 3.15pm collection.

    09/05/17

High ropes this morning followed by lake trip where some of the children (and Mrs Rose) got to drive the boat.
The children are a credit to the school with their behaviour and team spirit.

08.05.17:  Everyone arrived safely early today and are now settling in.  Already they have been busy, with Archery and Orienteering Sessions.   Only two pictures this time but more will be posted as they are received.  We hope that the good weather continues so they can make the most of their surroundings.

We will update this news item each day so please keep checking.

After a busy first day, the children snuggled down in their sleeping bags for a film night.

  • CROWNING OUR LADY

Tue 02 May 2017 Jan Edmondson

We were delighted to see how many parents, carers and parishioners joined us today as the children processed behind the statue of Our Lady and then presented flowers as she was crowned.

We thank you for the support you continue to give our school and community.
