Welcome to St. Bernadette's Class.
St Bernadette's is a mixed Reception and Year One Class, Mrs Bateman is the Class Teacher and we are very lucky to have Mrs Williams as our full time Teaching Assistant.
A huge welcome all of our new children and families. As a staff we all understand how exciting but also worrying this time can be so if you have any concerns at all (no-matter how small) then please feel free to come and see either myself or Mrs Williams. I also can't wait to see how much the Year One children have grown and look forward to hearing all of your holiday news.
Home-School Book - Each child will have a home-school book which will help to ensure that communication flows freely between us and this will be checked and signed by staff each day.
*Please ensure these are brought into school everyday as this ensures easy communication.
Tapestry - After positive feedback from last years Reception families we will be continuing to use online Tapestry profiles for all Reception children. This will enable parents to see what their children are doing at school and also share milestones and photos from home.
The use of Tapestry was explained at our introduction meeting but if you have any questions please pop in to see me. I will need an up to date email address from parents to access this and I will transfer the profiles of those children who attended Little Acorns to continue on the same profile - but if you have any changes to your preferred email please let me know.
Outdoor Learning/ Nature School - We are hoping to make the most of our outdoor learning area and therefore it important that the children bring a waterproof coat everyday.
On a Tuesday afternoon the whole of KS1 will be outside enjoying nature and outdoor activities including Forest School and Gardening, children should bring suitable outdoor clothing, a waterproof coat and wellies (all named).
P.E - P.E will take place each Monday and Wednesday. On Monday the children will need to bring their PE kits in their bags to change into (just shorts and t-shirt as this will be an indoor session). On Wednesdays the children come to school in their kits and they will remain in these all day.
Please ensure that your child has a labelled water bottle each day and that all uniform and PE kit has their name on it, it can get very tricky with 28 of everything (and 56 socks and shoes)!
We are looking forward to an exciting year working with the children and their families.
