  • Learning at Home

Small moments at home can make a big difference.

Sharing a story, counting while cooking or talking about the day all give children opportunities to learn and grow. At Our Lady & St Oswald’s, we want parents and carers to feel confident supporting their child’s learning.

You don’t need to recreate the classroom at home. Your time, interest and encouragement are a     valuable part of your child’s learning journey.

    Find Ideas and Resources

Choose a topic from “In This Section” on the right-hand side for practical ideas, helpful guides and links to resources we use in school. On a phone or smaller screen, look for the section menu.

    Reading & Phonics
Support your child’s reading with Little Wandle parent resources, our school reading guide and tips for enjoying books together.

    Maths at Home
Explore everyday maths activities, number games and guidance on using Sumdog.

       Learning Through Play
Discover simple ways to encourage conversation, curiosity and independence through play,           particularly for our youngest children.

    We’re Here to Help

Keep learning at home positive, enjoyable and manageable for your family. Follow your child’s teacher’s guidance, celebrate their effort and make time to enjoy discovering things together.

If you are unsure where to start, need help accessing a resource or find that your child is                 struggling, please speak to their class teacher. We will work with you to find an approach that         helps.
